This song was originally intended as the B-side for George Harrison’s “This is Love” single. An impromptu gathering of musicians (who later became the Wilburys) turned into an informal songwriting and jam session. George was inspired by the label “Handle with Care” upon seeing a box in Bob Dylan’s garage; the box also inspired the line “been beat up and battered around.”
