George Harrison - All Things Must Pass

A song written by George Harrison in 1968. During the Beatles’ Get Back/Let It Be sessions in January 1969; one of  many songs the band rehearsed to be part of their new album. As the sessions progress, the song was pushed aside, and was never picked up as part of their album.

A number of small changes have been made from when it was first written to when its final release. One is the line “a mind can blow those clouds away” was originally written as “a wind can blow those clouds away,” but according to bootlegs of the Get Back/Let It Be sessions, John Lennon suggested to change “wind” to “mind” to include a psychedelic element in the song.

Billy Preston, who played keyboards during the Get Back/Let It Be sessions and performed with the Beatles at the Rooftop Concert, recorded a version of this song (and My Sweet Lord) on the album Encouraging Words before both songs were released as part of George’s All Things Must Pass album.

Paul McCartney performed this song at the Concert for George memorial on November 29, 2002.
